Furniture store closing Rockdale branch after more than a quarter-century
Main Street in Rockdale will seem a little emptier after this week. Orsag’s is closing its store on Main Street after 26 years in business. The furniture and appliance store officially locked the front doors on Wednesday (Aug. 31). Full Story

It’s that time again to empty your trunks and put gas in the car. It is city wide garage sale time.
The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce will host its annual City Wide Garage Sale on Saturday, Sept. 3, Chamber president Deedra Jacob announced.
This year the Chamber decided to host this event free of charge to any citizen that wished to sign up. Full Story

Railroad commissioners ask Texas AG to challenge EPA cross-state air pollution rule
AUSTIN—Texas Railroad Commissioners voted last week to send a letter to Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott asking him to take action on behalf of the Railroad Commissionwhich regulates the surface mining of lignite coal-to challenge the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Cross- State Air Pollution Rule.
