Concern about horses prompts letter writer

Dear editor,

I am writing this letter on behalf of some starving horses. I have watched these horses starve for a year now.

There are 3 adults and a foal. The mare is in such poor condition she has no milk for her foal. I have contacted the sheriff’s department and county commissioner’s office to no avail.

I have taken it upon myself to feed these animals. There is no shelter for these horses. I cannot say what their water situation is because I have had no response from the above offices contacting me.

It is my understanding to report abuse or neglect of animals. I have tried to do this to no avail.

The owners do not care for or deserve these animals. I have actually found homes for them but cannot get any cooperation.

How much does an animal have to suffer before any intervention is given? To the point they cannot recover?

If people do not want or can’t care, for their animals there are people that will.
