‘Wouldn’t allow my dog to drink Rockdale water’

Dear editor,

Thank you to Mr (Glenn) Landrum for stating what needed to be said.

I was privileged to live in Rockdale from 2001 to 2007. Mr. Bland built our dream home on land we had bought on Oak Park Five.

As it was outside the city limits, we had Southwest Milam Water for our water supply.

I did put in a water softener but the water was very good.

I made the mistake of moving to Sun City, Georgetown, in 2007. I was unable to care for the 46 acres we owned after my husband died and I thought I needed to be closer to my family.

I missed Rockdale, and all my friends, and moved back in October, 2010. This home is in the city. Within a month I had to buy a water softener and water filter system.

I wouldn’t even allow my dog to drink the tap water here.

If anyone on the city council would like to see the dirt-filled filter that I have to replace much more often than the directions suggested, just give me a call.

Health problems may prevent my attending the budget hearing but this is my protest in writing to whoever has any control over the water.

I love being back in Rockdale and I think The Rockdale Reporter is one of the best weekly papers I have ever read.
