Tree-planting to mark anniversary of 9-11
A tree-planting remembrance to mark the 10th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks is set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Wolf Park.
Deedra Jacob, Chamber president, said the ceremony w ill honor those who lost their lives during the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6525 will host a Military Assistance Program (MAP) Motorcycle Run with its annual fall chili cookoff at the post Oct. 15.

Kirk Memorial Run Sept. 24 at The Ranch
A memorial run to raise money for a headstone for the late Tim “T. K.” Kirk is set for Saturday, Sept. 24, beginning at The Ranch, according to Charles Starr, organizer.
“First bike out is at 11 a.m. and all bikes, trikes, cars and trucks are welcome,” he said. There will be four stops during the day. Full Story
Reception to honor Chamber president
A welcome reception will be held for new Chamber of Commerce president Deedra Jacob Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the Rockdale Workforce Center, 313 North Main.

Suicide prevention training set in Cameron
The second of two ASK Gatekeeper suicide prevention training sessions in Milam County is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, in the Cameron High School library.
Rockdale High School hosted a session on Tuesday.
Baby sitters will be available for all children fifth grade and under.

United Way schedules radiothon Sept. 16th
The South Milam County United Way will host a fundraising radiothon Friday, Sept. 16, from 9 a.m. to 12-noon at Busy Bea Restaurant.
Hosts will be Becky Booker Marek and Michael Craig.
Pledges made during the radiothon will be used to fund four th quar ter distributions totaling about $12,000 to several organizations. Full Story
Wied Hardware marker unveiling is Saturday
CAMERON—E. L Wied Hardware Store, 413 Batte in Cameron, w ill be dedicated as a Registered Texas Historic Landmark at 5 p. m. on Saturday, according to Billie Wied, owner of the property.
Althonse Matocha, nephew of original store owner A. J. Matocha, will present memories of Cameron’s “Dutchtown” and the store being honored. Full Story
