Six th annual ‘Run for the Kay ’ Oct. 1st

The six th annual Kay Theat re Wa lk- Run- Unrun will unreel Saturday,

Oct. 1, beginning at the theatre, corner of Main and Dav illa.

The annual event raises funds for restoration of the 1940s- era theatre as a community and cultural center.

K IDS RU N—For the fou r th straig ht ye ar, a short ch ild ren’s “Kids Kay” dash wil l begin at 8 a. m., followed by the 5K run and walk at 8: 30.

The “un- run” allows persons who don’t wish to run or wa lk to sup port the ev ent. Un -run ners pay an entry fee, sit and cheer the part icipants.

The Communitie s in Con cer t Band will again provide music for the event.

AGES, PR IZES— The Kids Kay run is for youth ages 6- 13. It loops a four- cit y block area. No barefoot running is allowed and runners’ shoes must be tied.

Age divisions, in both male and fema le categories, are as follows (as of Oct 1, 2011):

Pre- Kay Dash— 6-7, 8- 9, 10- 11, 12- 13.

5K Walk/ Run— 19- and- under, 20- 29, 30- 39, 40 -49, 50- 59, 60- 69, super seniors (70 and above).

Prizes include $100 cash, a gif t ba sket and trophy to the overall male and female runners. Awards will also be presented to the top th ree finisher s in the run, walk and K id s Kay div isions in eac h age group.

Regist ration for the Kids Kay is $8 per participant before Saturday and $10 on race day. Reg istration for th e 5K and “Un r un” is $15 before and $20 on race day.

All registered entrants receive a T- shir t and snacks.
