Concern over the record-breaking drought led the Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District (POSGCD) to survey eight water wells in the Rockdale area this summer and the results have basically confirmed the strength of the area’s premier “underground lake.” Full Story
Trustees okay tax rate hike
Luminant litigation cited in .09-cent jump
Rockdale ISD trustees voted unanimously to adopt a ninetenths of a cent tax rate increase for 2011-2012 during their regular monthly meeting Monday night in the Central Administration Building.
The $1.225 tax rate is up slightly from the current $1.2135. Full Story

When thousands of people gather at Fair Park for the 36th annual Rockdale Fair Oct. 20-22, only a few “old timers” will realize just how much the park has changed.

Texas rate continues to climb highest since mid-1980s
