CHAMBER NEWS
Deedra Jacob

Hello Rockdale. This week is a very exciting week for Rockdale, the Chamber of Commerce, and Apache Pass. This weekend we will have our first annual Central Texas Hunting and Outdoor Expo at Apache Pass.

This event has grown over the last few months and we can’t wait for it to happen. We have vendors and participants coming from as far away as Nebraska. The Expo will have around 30 vendors and events scheduled all day on Saturday. There will be six area schools from six different cities coming for the civil war education day on Friday.

Straight Up will be performing from 5-8 p.m. on Friday and Bobby Buchanan will be hosting karaoke from 8 p.m. to midnight. We have a big group of barbecue cooking teams signed up. There will be a margarita/salsa contest on Friday night and judging for the barbecue will be on Saturday.

There will be a skeet shooting contest and 3D archery contest on Saturday as well as many children events including a camo pageant for the children to compete in. Simply dress them in their best camouflage outfit and come sign up at 9 a.m.

The weekend will end with a camo cotillion (camo dress optional) featuring Lange Debault on Saturday night. I hope to see each of you out there. It is going to be loads of fun and an event you don’t want to miss.

‘AFTERNOON MUSIC’—On Sunday, Sept. 25 the Matinee Musical Club is hosting an “Afternoon of Music” at 3 p.m. in the Peace Lutheran Church fellowship hall. Tickets are $10 with proceeds going to the Louise Hale Sessions Memorial Scholarship given each year to a graduating senior.

I will resume the business spotlights next week. See you this weekend. Deedra Jacob is the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce president. Email her at djacob@rockdalechamber.com or phone 446-2030.
