The Rockdale Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) has set its annual fall festival for Friday, Oct. 7, spokesperson Michelle Barcak announced.
The festival will be held from 5-8 p.m. at Rockdale Intermediate School.
There will be games, door prizes, food and much more for the whole family, Barcak said. All tickets for games, etc. are four for $1.
Three locals earn A&M bachelor degrees
COLLEGE STATION—Diplomas were awarded to approximately 1,800 Texas A& M University graduates during summer com- mencement ceremonies held in August.
Among those receiving degrees were three area residents:
Katie O. Roddam, of Rockdale, bachelor of science in health;
Clifford R. Jay, of Lexington, bachelor of science in agricultureal systems management;
Samantha J. Johnson, of Milano, bachelor of science in animal science.
Bakken on A&M Dean’s honor list for summer
COLLEGE STATION—Buckwind B. Bakken, of Milano, has been named to the Dean’s Honor Roll at Texas A&M University for the summer 2011 semester.
The Dean’s Honor Roll recognizes students taking at least 12 semester hours during the summer semester who have maintained a 3.75 or higher grade point out of a possible 4.0.
Bakken, a senior, is pursuing a degree in sociology.
GED prep classes offered at RJH lab
The 2011-12 GED prep classes have begun at the Rockdale Junior High School computer lab, according to instructor Shirley Jensen.
New enrollment and orientation is scheduled for the first Monday and Tuesday of each month. Jensen is available 6:15-8:15 p.m. every Monday and Tuesday to assist all GED students. She will also be available at the Rockdale Workforce Center on Wednesdays from 1:30-4:30 p.m.
Interested candidates may attend any or all of the classes as this program is self paced.
