Family of four lose home in Sunday morning fire
A Rockdale family of four is dealing with an early morning fire at their residence Sunday north of town on FM 908.

RISD earns three stars in new FAST rankings
A mid-level ranking was given to Rockdale ISD last week by Texas Comptroller Susan Combs in her updated version of the state’s Financial Allocation Study for Texas (FAST).
She initiated FAST in 2010 and announced new rankings for 1,237 school district and charter schools, using the most recent educational data. Full Story
Sen. Ogden will pass up ballot; Schwertner to seek his position
State Sen. Steve Ogden, a stable, guiding hand in the Texas Legislature for 20 years, will finish his current term which ends in January of 2013, but will not seek re-election.
His announcement was made Tuesday, followed shortly by an announcement from local State Rep. Charles Schwertner of Georgetown that he will seek Ogden’s District 5 Senate seat. Full Story
