City trash collection switch gets final okay
Once-a-week pickup to begin in January with increased cost
It’s official. Rockdale will switch from twice- a-week to once- a-week garbage pickup on Jan. 1.
And the city is also switching its trash pickup firm after a pair of 5-0 votes Tuesday by council members changed the service from Waste Management to IESI. Full Story

First ‘Expo’ includes Civil War reenactment
Organizers say that 1,500 bands were handed out to vendors, cookers, spectators and more dur ing the f irst ever Hunting and Outdoor Expo held Friday and Saturday at Apache Pass, north of Rockdale on FM 908. The event was sponored by the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce.
That large attendance number included 450 school children from six districts throughout Central Texas. Full Story

Milano chokes Chilton to go 5-0
Jentsch boots two field goals to make the difference
MILANO—It was a fight to the finish and the Eagles finished on top as Milano stayed unbeaten on the season with a surprising 27-25 win the Chilton Pirates on Friday night at Pruett Field.
The Eagles are now 5-0 going into their open week before district play begins. The Pirates fall to 2-3 on the season. Full Story
Mid-season report card: a passing grade
With their well documented coaching and personnel changes, most football experts had the Rockdale Tigers penciled in for a long vacuous season.
While we have reached the midway point of the season already, the Tigers are alive and well, thank you very much, at 3-2 and if they could have executed a couple more plays against Liberty Hill, could be sitting 4-1. Full Story
