Expo was great; even more to do this weekend

CHAMBER NEWS

Hello Rockdale. What an amazing weekend we had with the Hunting and Outdoor Expo. If you didn’t get a chance to get out there you missed such a good time. There were great vendors, delicious barbecue from our cook-off entries, amazing civil war history, beautiful pageant queens and much, much more.

Be sure to put that on the “to do” list for next year. It will definitely be a yearly event. As much fun as we had last weekend, we have more great events scheduled for this weekend.

On Saturday, the Kay Theatre is having their yearly Kay Fun Run. The kid’s Kay will start at 8 a.m. and the 5K will start at 8:30 a.m. Please call the chamber at 446-2030 if you have any questions about this event.

The 9th annual La Escuelita Fall Cook-off is also scheduled for Oct. 1. Cook-off will begin at 8 a.m., however, cookers can begin set up at 7 a.m. There is also a horseshoe and washer tournament scheduled along with music and food available. Please call Dee Lerma at 446- 6833 with any questions.

The Chamber is also excited to announce that there is a new business coming to town. Garden Treasures will be located right next door to Jiffy Lube on US 79. They have already begun updating the building and are planning a ribbon cutting and social soon. Be watching for an update on that.

Thank you to all the volunteers and sponsors that helped make the Expo a great event this year. Without the hard work of so many of our citizens it would not have been possible. Deedra Jacob is the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce president. Email her at djacob@rockdalechamber.com or phone 446-2030.
