Lots to do this weekend in Milam County!

Did you enjoy the rain this week? It rained for 3 and a half minutes at our house. I know because my husband timed it. Our dog, who goes berserk during thunders and lightning, didn’t even lift her head off of her pillow. (Yes, our dog has a pillow. When I die, I want to come back as one of our pets).

One of my very favorite people visited us this week. My Aunt Judy came to The Rock. She’s my Mom’s little sister. She is a former hair stylist with a crazy personality and a laugh that lights up a room. She and Mom have had a blast together, shopping and visiting. Love, love, love Aunt Judy!

We always end up at the table, eating, telling stories and laughing.

When Mom and Judy get together they talk about when they were growing up. It’s very easy to see where my brothers and I get our “crazy” from!

Check out our Food page on 5C this week for some cool Tailgate Party ideas. “Tis the Season for Tailgating, that’s for sure. Husband and some of his friends (and former RHS delinquents, I mean athletes) are going to Baton Rouge to watch LSU play Kentuckey. Look out Lousiana!

And me? My list of things to do is getting longer and longer and I need to narrow it down. Or put on roller skates!

This weekend there are tons of things to do all around Milam County. Saturday, the day begins in Rockdale with the Kay Theatre Run, Walk and UnRun. Guess which one I will be? After that, go and get something yummy to eat at the La Escuelita Fall Cook- off. They will have homemade Chili, BBQ and Menudo.

Down the road will be the annual

Milano Fall Festival with Arts & Crafts, food booths, Car, Truck, Cycle and Tractor Shows and of course, the always- famous Milano VFD Ladies Auxiliary Fall Garage Sale. You never know what you will find there, it’s always a good sale. Did you hear that Noelia?

Outside of Thorndale, at the Hiney arena, the 16th annual Maggie Schneider Roping & BBQ Cook- off. Another fun event that is the Dimebox Lions Club Black Bridge Festival, Mini- Marathon, annual Homecoming and BBQ Cook- off, all in downtown Dimebox.

Then Sunday afternoon, the MARC Center is holding an Open House in their newly remodeled center and my good friend Spencer

Stephens told me it was really nice and I need to go and see it. I always listen to Spencer.

Also on Sunday, the Thorndale Masons are holding a Fish Fry at Thorndale Meat, starting at 11 a. m. There’s also a Blood Drive at St. Paul’s Lutheran School. And Minerva is holding their 51st annual

Homecoming.

It all sounds like fun, pick one or several events!

And wear your roller skates!
