Melton

Ser v ices for Debbie Ly nn Melton, 44, of Temple will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, in Progressive Missionary Baptist Church in Hempstead. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery in Prairie View. Rev. S.L. Ross and Rev. Jimmy Glubber will officiate.

Visitation is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, in Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mrs. Melton died Thursday, Sept. 22, at her home in Temple.

She was born June 23, 1967, in Hempstead to Andrew L. McGarthy Sr. and Hazel Santee.

Mrs. Melton was a 1985 graduate of Rockdale High School and was a Golden Girl during her sophomore and junior years.

She married David Melton on Feb. 10, 1997.

Mrs. Melton attended Springfield Baptist Church in Rockdale.

She had been a Temple resident for the past three years, was a certified nursing assistant and had worked at Renaissance Villa in Rockdale and the Bartlett Nursing Home.

Mrs. Melton was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Nathaniel Santee and Andrew McGarthy.

Survivors are her husband, David Melton of Temple; two sons, Joseph McGathy and Justin Melton, both of Temple; her parents, Hazel Santee of Rockdale and Andrew McGarthy Sr. of Houston; a brother, Andrew McGarthy Jr. of Houston; and two half-sisters, Ashley McGarthy of Houston, Debbie Hemmitt of Dangerfield.
