Gause 4-H’ers earn awards at banquet

The annual Milam County 4- H Celebration was held on Saturday at the Thorndale Fireman’s Hall. There were several 4-Hers from the Gause club who participated on the program. They were Seth Vinton, Calla Vinton, Cameron Cooper, Kendall Lee and Garrett Reed.

Record participants receiving awards from the Gause Club were Cameron Cooper in shooting sports; Connelly Cooper, shooting sports; Jaxon Hayles, shooting sports; Kendall Lee, consumer education; Garrett Reed, sheep; Katelyn Trowbridge, clothing and textiles; Calla Vinton, clothing and textiles; and, Seth Vinton, shooting sports.

From the Gause 4-H Club as first place winners in a state contest who earned their 4-H jackets were Calla Vinton (consumer education) and Seth Vinton (shooting sports). Repeat first place state winners from the Gause club were Connelly Cooper and Jaxon Hayles. Garrett Reed received the Clover Novice County Achievement Award.

In the 4-H calendar drawing contest, Katelyn Trowbridge placed first in the beginner division, Robert Miller was third in the beginner division and Abbigail Miller was third in the junior division Congratulation to all these youth.

Gause ISD received one of the appreciation awards at the event.

The first six-weeks of the school year is over and Monday was the beginning of the second six-weeks period.

On Thursday, the Gause Junior High football team will play at Holland. On Thursday, Oct. 13, Gause will host Brazos Christian at Cameron Junior High beginning at 4:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the GJH Lady Bears volleyball team will be in a tournament at Brazos Christian in Bryan. If you have the opportunity, go see these youngsters play these sports activities.

Soccer games will be played here on Saturday starting around 8:15 a.m. for the little ones.

On Friday, Oct. 14 the students at Gause ISD will have a holiday as teachers will have a staff development day.

Also on Oct. 14 the youth group of Gause Baptist Church is planning on a trip to College Station to see the movie “Courageous.” Call Matt Sanders, 979-218-6827 for more information.

On Saturday, Oct. 15, a couples night is planned for dinner and a movie (“Courageous”). Those interested can contact Sherri Rasco, 979-77-4062.

On Oct. 28, there will be a Chris Tomlin concert at Central Baptist Church in College Station. You many call Matt or Sherri for more information on that.

Kristi Lee and Jaxon Hayles spent the weekend in the Houston area with relatives and friends.
