Roping, home economics, carnival, ‘free night’ kick off Fair Oct. 19th
There will be team roping, and home economics check-in and it’s the first night for the Fair carnival.
Admission to Fair Park is free that night only.
ROPING— Team roping gets under way at 7 p.m. in the Rockdale Roping & Cutting Club Arena.
Books open at 6 p.m.
It’s the first of four consecutive evenings of arena action.
Open 4D barrel racing is set for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20 and there’s professional rodeo action beginning at 8 p.m. Oct. 21 and 22.
Pro rodeo producer is the Cadillac Rodeo Company, owned by Johnny Hoyle.
HOME ECONOMICS—The New Salem Building will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 19 to receive items in all divisions except baked goods, diabetic baked goods and decorated cakes in the 2011 Fair’s home economics competition.
County Agent Cheryl Walker said there are no entry fees and Milam County residents ages five and over are eligible to enter.
Age divisions are beginner, junior, intermediate, senior and adult.
Grand champions in youth divisions will receive $15 each and reserve champions $10 each, Walker said.
No cash awards will be presented in baked goods, diabetic baked goods and decorated cakes. Check-in for those divisions is 8 a.m. to 12-noon Thursday, Oct. 20.
CARNIVAL—Jennifer Stiff lemire, RFA board members, listed wristband prices and times, allowing the wearer unlimited rides at the Fair carnival:
Wednesday, Oct. 19—$20, 6 to 10 p.m. (only night with no park admission).
Thursday, Oct. 20— No wristbands, pay for individual rides, 6 to 10 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 21—$25 wristbands from 6 to 10 p.m. (carnival open from 5 to 11).
Sat u rd ay, Oc t. 22—$ 25 wristbands from 6 to 10 p.m. (carnival open from 1 p.m. to midnight).
TICK ETS—Miss Rockdale Fair Queen contestants, and a number of local businesses, continue to sell Fair tickets.
Tickets are also available online at www.outhousetickets.com. Do a search for Rockdale Fair. Season tickets, which admit the bearer to all events of the Fair, including Saturday’s pageants, are priced at $20 for adults and $10 for children ages 8-12 and senior citizens 55 and above.
Single day tickets are priced at $15 for adults and $10 for children and senior citizens.
