They picked up that win on the road with a three set sweep over Navasota. Rockdale won 25-21, 25-20, 25-23.

“The girls played with intensity and got the job done. I’m so proud of them for our first district win,” Lady Tigers head coach Jason Williams said. “ We are going to ride this momentum into our next round of district play and compete with intensity.”

Shelby Evans paced Rockdale against Navasota with six kills and six blocks on the night.

Lisa Vest served up eight aces and Ashtyn Simank had nine digs. Amanda Boyd and Victoria Drake each set eight assists.

The junior varsity Lady Tigers lost in straight sets at Navasota 10-25 and 19-25. Haley Wright served five points, while Kayla Deary served two.

Rockdale’s freshmen also lost, but in three sets, 18-25, 25-10, 23-25. Bethany Miller served 13 points during the match and Kallie Hicks three.

Tuesday night

The Rockdale Lady Tigers started the second round of District 23-3A play on Tuesday night with a road loss at Caldwell (22- 10, 5-1), 25-9, 25-12, 25-13.

The Lady Tigers are now 1-5 in league play and 7-20 on the season.

Evans and Vest punched out three kills each, with Evans adding three blocks.

Marissa Mireles secured eight digs, while Drake set up five assists and Jill Young one serving ace.

The junior varsity and freshmen teams also fell.
