Smithville school bus hits cow

The trip home from Rockdale was little more adventurous than one bus full of Smithville students had planned Friday night.

A Smithville ISD bus collided with a cow at 11:15 p.m. on US 77, just south of Rockdale, according to Trooper Erik Gaston.

Gaston listed the driver as Frank Green, 65, of Smithville. Gaston said there were no injuries and, while the bus sustained moderate damages, it was driven from the scene.

No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle collision at 11:15 a.m. Saturday on US 77 at the County Road 322A intersection south of Rockdale, according to Trooper Donald Delukie.

He listed drivers as Mirl Forrest, 74, of Cameron, and 83- year-old Alma Scheperle of Mission.

Damages were termed moderate to both vehicles, according to the trooper.

No injuries were reported in a one-vehicle accident at 6:34 p.m. Saturday on FM 908, north of Rockdale, according to Gaston.

He listed the driver as David Culbertson, 67, of Georgetown.
