Robinson

Funeral services for Bose Emmett Robinson, 82, were held Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, in Phillips & Luckey Funeral Chapel in Rockdale with Pastor Luther Shelander officiating. Burial followed in Minerva Cemetery in Minerva.

Mr. Robinson died Oct. 14, at the Riverwood Nursing Home in Madisonville.

He was born June 26, 1929, in the Minerva community to Bose E. and Bertha (Beathard) Robinson.

Mr. Robinson graduated from Rockdale High School in 1948 and moved to Houston, where he worked as a mail clerk for Humble Oil.

That year, he also enlisted in the Texas National Guard; and in 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps achieving the rank of corporal, serving as a telephone lineman.

Mr. Robinson saw active duty during the Korean War, earning the Korean Service Medal with three Service Stars and was discharged in 1953.

After military duty, he returned to Rockdale and married Patricia Whiteley in 1954.

The family lived in Rockdale, Corsicana and Comanche before settling in Somerville.

Mr. Robinson initially worked as a farmer and as a surveyor before becoming a park ranger for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers serving at Lakes Proctor and Somerville where he would spend most of his career.

He especially loved the ourdoors and traveling the U.S.

After retiring from public service in 1989, he enjoyed researching family genealogy and traveling with his family.

Mr. Robinson was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church in Somerville. He taught classes and held various volunteer leadership positions.

Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wesley Harvey Emmons and John Thomas “JT” Robinson; a sister, Frances Robinson Simonton; an infant son, Mark Shane Robinson; and a special friend, Eula Bea Schoppe.

Survivors are two sisters, Elizabeth Nieman of Houston, Kathleen Meyer of Rockdale; a brother and sister- in- law, James and Harlene (Crawford) Robinson of Lubbock; four sons and their wives, Jud Emmett and Deborah ( Brown) Robinson of Hilltop Lakes, Daniel Dwayne and Nena ( Collard) Robinson of LaMarque, Michael Bose and Eunice (Contreras) Robinson of Allen, Kevin Dale and Jane (Schoppe) Robinson of Temple; and 11 grandchildren, Shay, Zac, Whitney, Logan, Jason, Cody, Brandon, Devon, Michael, Sarah Jane and Colleen; also, two great-grandsons, Ivan and Jaxon and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers were Shay Robinson, Zac Robinson, Logan Robinson, Jason Robinson, Cody Robinson, Brandon Robinson, Michael Robinson and Cecil Meyer.
