The Lady Tigers lost to Giddings on Tuesday night after falling to Smithville on Friday, falling out of the playoff race in District 23-3A.

No. 5 LaGrange leads the league with an undefeated mark, with Giddings, Caldwell and Smithville in the hunt for the final two postseason spots.

On Tuesday night, the Lady Tigers (7-22, 1-7) almost upset Giddings at Tiger Gym, but fell short in four sets 17-25, 25-19, 10-25, 23-25.

Shelby Evans and eight kills and a career high nine blocks in the game. Amanda Boyd set 13 assists and served up three aces.

Marissa Mireles had 20 digs.

In sub-varisty action, Rockdale’s junior varsity squad lost, but the freshmen won. The JV went down in three sets 19-25, 25-22, 14-25. Alyssa Wallis had 12 service points and Kelsey Ford seven.

The Lady Tiger freshmen won in three 25-20, 12-25, 25-22. Bethany Miller had 13 service points and Sarah Pruett added five.

With just two games remaining in the season, Rockdale head volleyball coach Jason Williams has to continue to keep his team ready to play.

“We are focused on ending our season this year better than last year and continue the growth we have shown in the last few years,” Williams said.

The Lady Tigers fell to Caldwell at Tiger Gym on Friday night in straight sets 23-25, 16-25, 19-25.

Lisa Vest and Evans recorded six kills each with Evans also putting up four blocks in the match.

Victoria Drake set 10 assists and served up three aces, while Bailey Pannell had 12 digs.

In subvarsit y play against Caldwell, the junior varsity lost 16-25, 23-25. Alyssa Wallis had eight service points and Samantha Muston served five points for Rockdale.

The freshmen team got the night’s only win with a 25-17, 25- 19 victory over Caldwell. Maxie Vann served up seven points and Sarah Pruett four.

The Lady Tigers will travel to face LaGrange on Friday night, then close out the season on Tuesday when they host Navasota at Tiger Gym.
