Auction sale $207,020, second highest total ever
Santa Claus “makes a list and checks it twice” and officials of the Rockdale Fair Association were checking totals from the 2011 livestock auction twice, three and four times Monday before they could believe their eyes.
In a “ way down” economic year the Rockdale area business community came up with $207,020 in support of Milam County FFA and 4-H youth. Full Story
Drug sting suspect charged in shooting
23 now in custody from crackdown
Two more persons, one from Rockdale, were arrested over the past seven days in connection with last week’s Milam County drug sting operation and a Cameron suspect has been re-arrested and charged with a double shooting.
Jasper England, 40, surrendered Sunday at the Cameron police department in connection with the shooting of his estranged wife and a Cameron man. Full Story

County jobless rate holds steady
Texas’ rate still highest since mid-1980s
Unemployment numbers across the state and in Milam County held steady for the month, according ot reports released Friday by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC).
The unemployment rate in Milam County stayed steady at 10.2 percent for the month and is also the same as it was for September 2010. Full Story
