Rockdale ISD has recycling programs

Rockdale ISD has been awarded an Alcoa Foundation grant for recycling. Currently, all schools are participating in recycling paper, cardboard, aluminum cans, and small electronics. Student groups on each campus are taking an active role in promoting and collecting recyclable materials.

The following opportunities are available:

Paper Recycling—Container available in parking lot of Rockdale High School Ag Building (off Murray Street) Yes: Newspaper, magazines, phone books, school and office paper, paper grocery bags, cardboard No: Spiral bound books, wax coated paper, carbon paper, envelopes with plastic windows, trash

Small Electronics, Printer Cartridges— drop off locations include all front offices of each campus Yes: cellular phones, inkjet cartridges, laser cartridges, GPS devices, laptops, PDAs, iPods, DVDs, digital cameras, video games and consoles

Aluminum Cans—Cans are currently being collected at all Rockdale High School and Rockdale Junior High sporting events, look for the blue containers marked for recycling.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
