Commercial heifer sale totals $59,715
Nineteen lots sell to benefit FFA, 4-H exhibitors
The seventh annual commercial heifer show at the 2011 Rockdale Fair was another record breaker.
The sale raised $59,715 for 19 Milam County FFA and 4-H exhibitors. That compares to $47,445 in 2010 and $33,200 in 2009.

Annual Holiday Classic to be held Nov. 12-13 in Belton
I f you are a novice exhibitor of cattle, sheep, swine or goats, you and your parents need to attend the free showmanship and prospect show called Holiday Classic on Nov. 12-13 at the Bell County Expo in Belton. The Holiday Classic is an annual two-day livestock clinic and prospect show. Livestock can begin arriving at 9 a.m. Saturday and need to be in place by noon. Full Story
Special registration number needed for ag tax exemptions
Farmers, ranchers and timber operators who produce agricultural and timber products for sale will need a special registration number to claim sales tax exemption on purchased taxable products used for their operations beginning Jan. 1. The registration number was made a requirement by House Bill 268, which passed in the recent legislative session. Full Story
