Thorndale Chamber to hold bake sale Saturday

The Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) has set bake sale for Saturday, Nov. 5, in front of the Thor nd a le Me at Ma rket on Highway 79 beg inning at 8 a.m. until sold out. Stop by and select a delicious baked good for your weekend. The TACC appreciates your support of this fundraiser.

In other business, the TACC approved the minutes of the September meeting and also approved the treasurer’s report. Committee reports were heard as well as an update on the newest TACC member, Quilting by Donna Lou. This business is owned by Donna Johnston and is located at 102 Jenke Street in Thorndale.

Hours are by appointment only and a ribbon cutting is planned for Saturday, Nov. 19. Call Donna at 512- 898- 2649 for information on the quilting services she has to offer. Another new business, Hamburger Haven, is also planning a ribbon cutting in the near future. Stop by and enjoy a hamburger and welcome this new business to our community.

In addit ion, a repor t was heard from Susan Drabek on the recent Thorndale City Council meeting and from Kati Watson regarding website en ha ncement s to t he TACC website at thorndaletx.com.

In old business, the TACC f loat was awarded Best Out of Tow n Float in the recent Rockdale Fair parade. A beautiful job was done on the float thanks to Audrey Gamble and Dawn Sizemore and Tami Kovar of Sassy Up.

Our thanks to these ladies for their expertise on updating the f loat and for sponsoring Cara Goetz, Miss Thorndale 2011, and Kristen Garza, Runner up. Thanks to Cara and Kristen, for representing TACC in the parade.

In other business, Marilyn Johnson reported on the status of the Christmas Lot Lighting which will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27. All individuals, churches, businesses, clubs and organizations are invited to set up a display.

In new business, the TACC Christmas Parade was set for Saturday, Dec. 3. A r ts and craf ts w ill be set up on the sidewalk in downtown Thorndale and a Silent Auction and Santa Photos will take place in the TACC building. Get ready for a good time and a great kick off to the Holiday Season with these events.

Brian Morton reported on the Leadership Milam project which has selected to begin a Milam County Film Committee. Plans are under way to host a workshop on creating a location survey with a member of the Texas Film Commission leading the workshop.

The TACC voted to be a ponsor of this workshop. Look for more information regarding the date and times as plans are finalized.

The TACC welcomes all citizens to attend their meetings and help with ideas to improve the business climate in Thorndale. The meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
