Winners announced in annual Evening Lions Club fund-raiser

Reporter correspondent

Winners of the Milano Evening Lions Club 2011 fund-raiser were announced at Friday’s Milano Eagle football game. The names drawn were Jerry Patterson of Cameron, $350 Walmart card; James Johnson of Cameron, $150 Walmart card; Connie Banks of Rockdale, $ 50 Walmart card. Congratulations and thanks to all for supporting our Lions Club.

Enjoyed visiting with former classmates and other former students at the Milano Exes homecoming reunion and meal on Saturday at the high school cafetorium. Really enjoyed visiting with Carlos Hernandez, class of 1965, who I hadn’t seen in years.

Congratulations to MHS senior Arianna Douglas on being named the 2011 homecoming queen. She is the daughter of Nydia Willard and Michael Douglas. The homecoming king was John Jentsch and the prince David Jentsch.

The Milano Elementary PATCH Club is collecting “Box Tops for Education” as part of their fund- raising activities this year. You can find them on several food items. Just cut them out and send them to school with your child. It’s free money for our school.

We extend our sympathy to the Ray Lewis family. He passed away on Oct. 26. Services were held Monday at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with burial in the Sand Grove Cemetery near Milano.

Last Saturday was the last game for our grandchildren that played soccer. Where do they get all that energy? The Milano teams and players played well for our town and we are proud of all of them.

Hope all of our trick-or-treaters had a safe and happy Halloween. Young and old came to our house dressed in many different costumes.

Congratulations to our Eagle football, volleyball and boys cross country squad for advancing to the next round. The football team played its last regular season game on Friday in Granger.
