MDD eyes full-time business recruiter

Members of t he Rockda le Municipal Development District (MDD) discussed hiring a marketing director/district manager, during a regular session Thursday at City Hall.

Gary Griesbach, board chairman, discussed recent interviews with marketing firms and said he doubted a part-time position would work, saying he envisioned a “business recruiter who would focus on bringing jobs to Rockdale.”

“I think it would be difficult for an outside person to come in and do that on a part-time basis,” he said.

Directors agreed to post the job as a full-time position.

In other business, directors:

• Heard that the Texas Department of Transpor tat ion has okayed a action plan for Rockdale’s airport.

• Conditionally approved a summer recreation program. The city council is to decide whether MDD funds can be expended for such a program.

• Heard project chair Bobby Pelzel report that construction is to begin on a gateway sign at the US 77-FM 908 (airport) intersection and another is in the works for the US 77-US 79 (overpass) intersection.

• Elected officers as follows: Griesbach, president; Collier Perr y, vice- president; Elaine Gerren, secretary; Mary Ridgway, treasurer.
