CAMERON—Funeral services for Bruce Crook, 77, of Cameron will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at St. Monica’s Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Chamberlain and Rev. Dimitrij Colankin officiating. Burial will follow in St. Monica’s Cemetery.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Marek-Burns- Laywell Funeral Home.
Mr. Crook died Sunday, Oct. 30, in a Temple hospital.
A retired planner/scheduler for TXU, he was born Jan. 11, 1934, in the Jones Prairie community of Milam County to Homer Walker and Alma Ruth (Brand) Crook.
He married Shirley Wied on June 9, 1956.
After retiring from TXU, Mr. Crook worked for Texas/New Mexico Power & Light for nine years.
He was a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church. He served on the pastoral council, the cemetery board and was a member of St. Monica’s choir.
Mr. Crook was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 12601 and played in the “Die Rhein Steins” band for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Crook of Cameron; three daughters, Melissa Raymond of Sugar Land, Lori Hollas of College Station, Melanie Crook of Cameron; a brother, Jimmy Crook of Hearne; and a sister, Betty Matula of Alvin; also, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
