Mantey

Funeral services for Mary Nell Mantey, 80, were held Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, in Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale with Rev. Lee Eschberger officiating. Burial followed in IOOF Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mrs. Mantey died Monday, Oct. 24, in Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

She was born Sept. 20, 1931, in the Prairie Hill community in Washington County to Fritz and Louise (Schneider) Moehlmann.

On April 15, 1956, she married Darvin Mantey in the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Prairie Hill.

Mrs. Mantey was baptized in the Evangelical Lutheran Church on Nov. 26, 1931.

When they moved to Rockdale in 1956, she became a member at Peace Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Mantey was a homemaker and worked in the kitchen at Rockdale Country Club for 13 years.

She enjoyed cooking and playing Bingo.

Mrs. Mantey was preceded in death by her parents; a half-brother, Waldo Moehlmann; and a granddaughter, Victoria Lynn Mantey.

Survivors are her husband, Darvin Mantey of Rockdale; four sons, Doug Mantey and wife Kay, Kenneth Mantey and wife Donna, Daniel Mantey, Marvin Mantey and wife Dora Lisa, all of Rockdale; two brothers, Freddie Moehlmann and wife Mildred of Independence, Harlan Moehlmann of Houston; a sister, Ida Jean Mantey and husband Hubert of Somerville; 10 grandchildren, Darvin Lee Mantey of Brenham, Stephanie Svrcek and Dustin of Las Vegas, Veronica Gunderson and Jason of Cypress, Daniel Mantey Jr. and Kelsey of Temple, Adam Mantey and Ashley of Brenham, Jennifer Mantey of Rockdale, Marvin Christopher Mantey and Taundra of Temple, Dale Scott Mantey of Rockdale, Tonya Luman and husband Kenneth of Thorndale, Brian Paulk and wife Kim of Rosharon; and 10 great grandchildren, Delaney Mantey, Viktorea Elizabeth Mantey, Eric Luman, Johnathan Luman, Alaina Mantey, Kensley Mantey, Destiney Mantey, Blayr Mantey, Saylor Gunderson and Keygan Gunderson.

Pallbearers weree her sons, Doug, Kenneth, Daniel and Marvin Mantey.

Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren and David Taylor.
