Powell

Funeral services for Rick Powell, 64, of Temple, formerly of Rockdale, were held Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011 in Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Carl Hudson officiating.

Mr. Powell died Wednesday Oct. 26 at his home in Temple.

He was born Jan. 30, 1947, in Buda to Llewellyn Richard and Harriet Ozell (Rader) Powell.

He was raised in Austin, moved to Rockdale, then to Caldwell where he worked for Brewer-Hughes Chevrolet as a mechanic. Later he moved back to Rockdale and worked at Miller Starnes Chevrolet Buick, retiring as their parts department manager.

He had been a Temple resident for the past four years.

Mr. Powell served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Belton and a former member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Rockdale, where he had served as a leader in the Royal Ambassadors.

Mr. Powell was active in Rockdale Girls Softball, serving as president and coach for many years. He was a volunteer worker with the Rockdale Fair Association and many other causes.

On June 10, 1972, he married Linda Gail Tindall in Rockdale.

Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his wife, Linda, on March 4, 2007, and his parents.

Sur vivors are his daughters, Heidi McCarn and husband Wesley of Corpus Christi, Kristi Paulsen and husband Aaron of Temple; two sisters, LeaRae Powell Riney of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Dorothy Powell Mickey of Austin; and four grandchildren, Olivia Grace Paulsen, Ethan Powell Paulsen, Peyton Eli Paulsen and Riley McCarn.
