Travel back to a year ago to the Rockdale- Caldwell game when winning meant earning a post-season spot in the state playoffs (which Rockdale captured).
Fast forward to this Friday at Hornet Stadium and the two teams will be playing for something alright, just not quite as lofty.

While I was thrilled as my friends and classmates Martin Stroman, Odis Mack and Ray Locklin were rightfully inducted into the Hall of Honor last season, it was equally fulfilling to see this group go in as well Friday night.

The latest class to be inducted into the Rockdale Sports Hall of Honor was a special group, simply because most represented the two most glorified teams in RHS sport history—the 1976 state football champions and the 1977 state track champions. Full Story

MILANO—Since Craig Jentsch took over as Milano’s head football coach three years ago, the last game of the regular season has been the most important in each of those years.
In 2009, Milano missed out on the postseason in a double overtime loss to Thrall. In 2010, it was a winner goes, loser stays home when the Eagles defeated Granger 40-20 to get into the post-season. Full Story

So when the Rockdale added a district championship to the pile, it was no surprise.

Spikers will face Utopia in area round in Luling
MILANO—The No. 12 Milano Lady Eagles are ready to hit the court again, as they take on the Utopia Lady Buffs on Thursday in Luling at 6 p.m. during the area round of the Class A state volleyball playoffs.
Milano (27-8) has not played a game in nearly two weeks since clinching the District 25A title on Oct. 22 against Thrall. Full Story
Sub varsity Tigers trip up against Giddings
THURSDAY: In the season finale, the junior varsity and freshmen host Caldwell with the first game at 5 p.m. The junior high Tigers travel to Caldwell with the first game starting at 4:30 p.m.
