Thorndale’s Lindemann named scholar athlete

VICTORIA—The University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars softball team had nine players named as 2011 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Scholar Athletes, including Thorndale native Kayla Lindemann.

The nine were among over 4,000 student athletes representing 707 different academic institutions who received the award.

The award is given to any player submitted by a member coach who achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2010-11 academic year.

Last week, the teams with the highest GPAs in each membership category were recognized as a 2011 NFCA Top Ten All- Academic team. UHV finished ranked No. 18 in the NAIA with a 3.333 team GPA.

Lindemann is a 2008 Graduate of Thorndale High School and will be a senior outfielder for the Jaguars this season.
