Thanksgiving service Nov. 22 at First Baptist

First Baptist Church will be the site for Rockdale’s annual Community Thanksgiving Service, set for 7 p.m. Nov. 22.

Rev. Jack Chelf, host pastor, said Rev. Rita Sims, pastor of St. John’s United Methodist Church, will deliver the message.

Rev. Leslie Adams of Calvary Baptist Church and Rev. Pam Graham of St. Thomas Episcopal Church will present scripture readings and music will be by Milam County Cowboy Church.

“Refreshments and fellowship will follow the service in the Family Life Center,” Rev. Chelf said.

Next MDD economic seminar ahead Nov. 17

The Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) board has scheduled its next economic development seminar for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, in the Patterson Center.

Joyce Bise of Giddings will present the program.

Bise was to have given a program on Oct. 19 but was unable to attend.

Luminant CAP set to meet in Lexington

LE X INGTON— Communit y members are invited to Monday’s meeting of the Luminant Community Advisory (LCAP), according to Diane Sheridan, facilitator.

She said LCAP will meet from 6 to 8:30 p.m. for an update on Three Oaks Mine, the Sandow Power Plant and the annual report on emissions.

The meeting will be held at the Three Oaks Mine office, 7207 West FM 696, between Old Lexington Road and FM 619.

Groundwater group set to meet in Milano

MILANO—Groundwater Management Area 12 will hold a joint planning meeting beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the Milano Civic Center.

Area 12 contains eight groundwater conser vation districts, including Post Oak Savannah GCD, headquartered in Milano and serving Milam and Burleson Counties.

Relay For Life teams to host fund-raiser

THORNDALE—Combined Thorndale Relay For Life teams, known as TUFF ( Thorndale United Family and Fr iends) will host a barbecue fund-raiser Sunday at Thorndale Fireman’s Hall.

Angie Becker, spokesperson, said serving begins at 11 a.m.

Barbecue brisket, potato salad, pickles, beans, onions and tea will be sold for $8 a plate, she said.

“Desserts will be available for a small donation,” she said.

A silent auction will also be held. “Anyone with items for the auction may bring them to the hall on Sunday,” she said.

Buddy Oney Toy Run scheduled Dec. 3rd

The sixth annual Buddy Oney Toy Run will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 3, beginning at The Ranch, according to Charles Starr, spokesman.

Fee is $15 per rider, $20 per rider and passenger or a new toy valued at $20, he said.

The fee also includes a meal.

“ You don’t need to ow n a motorcycle to support this ride,” he said. “Bikes, trikes, cars and trucks are welcome.”

Short-sleeve T-shirts will be available for sale the day of the run for $20.

Stops are at The War Horse Saloon in Thorndale, Noack Bar in Noack, Pancho and Lefty’s in Hare, Cliff’s Tavern in Rockdale, Nat’s in Milano and back to The Ranch, he said.

Next hydrant flushing scheduled Nov. 16th

The City of Rockdale will flush water lines on both east and west sides of Rockdale overnight Nov. 16, according to City Manager Kelvin Knauf.

He reminded residents to run their cold water taps the next morning until the stream runs clear.
