Milam County Cowboy Church’s annual ranch rodeo, set for Saturday in the Roping & Cutting Club Arena at Fair Park, will be a benefit for Cameron area resident Della Mekush.

No work before 2012 on Sandow 4 and 5
Even though the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has mandated Texas slash certain air emissions by Jan. 1, and Luminant has agreed to upgrade existing environmental equipment at Sandow Power Plant Unit 4, don’t look for a flurry of activity at the site in the next two months. Full Story
Court changes primary filing period
A ruling by a federal court last week has pushed the filing date for the 2012 primaries back more than two weeks.
New dates are Nov. 28 to Dec. 15 after Thursday’s ruling in San Antonio by a three-judge federal panel in a redistricting lawsuit .
Filing was to have started Saturday and end Dec. 12. Full Story
Veterans Day will salute many here on Friday
Friday, Nov. 11, is Veterans Day and events honoring local and area veterans literally begin at daybreak and continue through the afternoon.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6525 will serve a free breakfast to veterans and the public from 7 to 9 a.m., according to Nora Adcock, VFW Auxiliary spokesperson.
The post is located near the western city limits on US 79. Full Story
Roundup screening applicants
Christmas project can’t guarantee everyone
Citing continuing uncertain local economic conditions, the organizers of Rockdale’s Christmas Roundup announced Tuesday the annual drive might not be able to serve all families who apply for food and toys during the 2011 Christmas season.
Ann King, Roundup spokesperson, said the volunteer effort will screen all applicants “ to determine those most in need of help.” Full Story
