Get new holiday gift ideas at annual exchange

Make plans to attend the 17th annual Holiday Gift Idea Exchange from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21 at Bea’s Kitchen in Cameron. 4-Hers will be showing how to make a variety of craft, decorating and food ideas. The public is welcome to come and enjoy this free program to help get you in the holiday spirit.

When you attend the program, you will receive a handout with instructions and recipes for the demonstrations. Door prizes and refreshments will also be prepared by the 4-Hers for you to enjoy. Come out on Monday, Nov. 21 and get new ideas for the holiday.

CHRISTMAS TOUR— Reserve your seat for the Christmas Tour to Fredericksburg on Dec. 2. There is always lots to see in Fredericksburg, but on Dec. 2 we will be able to attend the St. Nikolausmarkt and the Christmas Parade.

The St. Nikolausmarkt is a special market set up for Dec. 2 -3 on Main Street. The tents will house everything from Christmas ornaments, nutcrackers, children’s toys, jewelry and lots more. Special food vendors will be selling traditional German sausage, schnitzel, and lots of desserts.

The nighttime Christmas Parade will feature lighted floats, trailers, animals, etc. We are suggesting that you bring a lightweight chair to sit and enjoy the parade. A few seats are still available on the chartered bus for the Christmas Tour on Dec. 2 to Fredericksburg. The cost is $40 per person. DIABETES EXPO—Those interested in finding out if they are at risk for diabetes, how to better manage their diabetes or how to provide better care for their loved one with diabetes should make plans to attend the Central Texas Diabetes Expo in Gatesville on Thursday, Nov. 17. The Texas AgriLife Extension Service, along with Cooperative Extension Service of Prairie View A&M University in Coryell, McLennan, Milam and Bell counties have joined forces to conduct a conference.

A full schedule is planned from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the Diabetic Expo for Nov. 17 at the First United Methodist Church in Gatesville (2600 East Main Street, Gatesville, Texas 76528). The event will not only feature speakers, but health screenings such as blood glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure. ce-walker@tamu.edu
