Rockdale Lions collecting food for local pantry

I t’s beginn ing to look a lot li ke Chr ist mas, even though Halloween and the Rockdale Fai r were ju st over.

I don’t have nea rly as much trouble with that as my husband and the male members of my fami ly have.

They seems to think that stor es sta rt decorating for Christmas in September just to make them mad.

But next is Than ksgiv ing and I think it ’s my favorite.

Who doesn’t love a hol iday based solely on food?

Noon Lions ar e partic ipating in the County- wide Food Drive. We are collect ing canned good s and/ or cash donations for the Rockdale Food Pantry again, here at The Reporte r. Other drop- off points are Classic Ban k, Mil ler- Star nes Che vrolet- Buick , Rockdale Federal

Cred it Union and any of the RISD ca mpuses. Donations at these spots can be made until Thursday, November 17.

We will be taking the donations to the Food Pantry on Friday afternoon, November 18. You can br ing donations to The Rep or ter as late as Friday mor ning.

Please give generously.

Mom sent me this Pimento Che ese recipe that Den ise Mi ller Starnes brought to the MA RC Center Open House bac k in October and Mom said ever ybody wante d the recipe.

She said it was really goo d and par ty- ish. I’m prett y sure she just invented a new word and I am even more sure that I wil l use it of ten. Pimento Chee se Spread Parsley flakes— liberal sprinkli ng Black pepper— lib eral spr inkling 1 cup green onions, chopped fine 1 cup pec ans, chopped 2 small or 1 large jar of chopped pimento 1 lb. bag ge d sh redded Colby cheese 1 lb. bag ge d sh redded Monterrey

Jack cheese shre dded 1 lb. Velveeta cheese, shredded Helmann’s mayon na ise (no substitute) add until you get the consistency you wa nt.
