Downtown group names top businesses
The Rockdale Downtown Association had its annual membership meeting on Monday at the Patterson Civic Center.
Awards were presented to new businesses: Nic Nac Shack, Ivy Lane and Elements @ Main.

Eight draw 20th District Court sentences
Eight persons drew sentences in 20th District Court last week, according to Prosecutor Kerry Spears who listed case dispositions as follows:
• Dominique Grayson, 19, Rockdale, pleaded guilty to retaliation, six years deferred adjudication probation, substance abuse evaluation and any recommended treatment. Full Story
County-wide holiday drive is under way
CA MERON—The C ameron Lions Club’s third countywide food drive to help those in need in Milam County is under way.
“Each community in the county is collecting food items—cereal, peanut butter, canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned meat—and paper goods (toilet tissue and soap),” spokesman Roddy Holcombe said. Full Story

Milam County voters weren’t in an amendment passing mood in Tuesday’s general election, failing to endorse 9 of 10 proposed amentdments to the Texas Constitutioin.

Berry seeks Milam Tax Assessor-Collector job
Karen Berry has announced her intention to file as a Republican for Milam County Tax Assessor/ Collector in the March Republican Primary.
