Ribbon cutting set Saturday for new quilting business

By DARLEEN TUCKER
TACC Secretary

Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) is planning a ribbon cutting ceremony for one of our newest businesses, Quilting by Donna Lou, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19. Located at 102 Jenke Street across from the Thorndale City Park, Quilting by Donna Lou will feature custom quilting on a long arm quilting machine. Owner Donna Johnston has long been interested in quilting and has won several ribbons for her creations. She will be featuring custom quilt piecing, long arm quilting and rental, as well as unique gift items. Stop by and welcome this new business to our community and see what she has to offer.

TACC would also like to congratulate our Thorndale High School Band for their excellent performance at the state marching contest in San Antonio. If you have not heard this group of students perform, you have missed a real treat. Be sure to catch their next public performance. You will not be disappointed.

Our Christmas lot is beginning to take shape. If you belong to a group, club or church, make sure to support this event with a display. Marilyn Johnson and Angie Becker are working hard to make this a memorable event for our community. Contact them to make sure your spot is reserved for this kick-off to our holiday season. Call Marilyn at 512-862-4419 or Angie at 512-898-2257 for more information.

Saturday, Dec. 3 will be the date for Santa to be in the Thorndale area. Make plans now to come out and enjoy the day shopping in our local businesses all over town. I know they will appreciate your patronage. You will also be able to browse the arts and crafts booths, have your photo taken with Santa either before or after the parade in the TACC building and then enjoy our parade which begins at 1 p.m. A silent auction will be held in the TACC building in downtown Thorndale from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Check out our auction items for unique gifts for yourself or someone else.

TACC welcomes all citizens to attend their meetings which are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. and help with ideas to improve the business climate in Thorndale. If you would like to become a member of the TACC, please contact Brian Morton at 512- 658-5378 or myself at 512-898-2727. We are now taking applications for 2012, which includes November and December 2011. And don’t forget to check out our website at thorndaletx.com.
