General Store to offer free cattle owners workshop

Rockdale General Store, along with Purina Mills and Pfizer Animal Health are sponsoring a free cattle owners workshop on Thursday, December 1, store manager Kevin Eschberger announced.

“Times are hard in the cattle business now and we all can use a little help,” Eschberger said.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the general store, located at 1201 W. Cameron Avenue in Rockdale, and will include a free meal.

The workshop w ill feature valuable information on cattle maintenance with limited forage supplies.

“ We w ill cover cost saving methods to ensure your cow herd will calve in good condition to re-breed faster for next season,” Eschberger said.

Other topics include animal health, mineral usage and its roll in animal nutrition, the use of forage extender products, liquid feed, bull and first calf heifer development.

“We feel this meeting will be very informative and questions of our speakers are encouraged,” Eschberger said.
