Entry nights will be held mid- February. For additional information, please consult the MCJLS rules posted on our website or contact the Texas AgriLife Extension Service-Milam County, 254- 697- 7045, 100 E.1st Street in Cameron.

MAJOR SWINE VALIDATION— Major swine validation will be held 4-6 p.m. Nov. 29 at the Youth Exposition Building in Cameron. Anyone planning to exhibit barrows at major livestock shows who have ordered tags should plan to bring their livestock to be validated for spring majors.

GIFT IDEA EXCHANGE— The Holiday Gift Idea Exchange is an opportunity for 4-Hers to demonstrate holiday crafts and food ideas. The event is open to the public, so we will have an audience of all ages. This is the 17th year for the Holiday Gift Idea Exchange. The Cameron 4-H Club serves as the host for the activity, but 4-Hers throughout the county are encouraged to participate.

This is an opportunity for 4- Hers from beginner age through seniors to practice public speaking skills without being judged. Older 4-Hers and parents can assist the younger 4-Hers with their presentations. This is a great opportunity for you to share ideas with others and learn new ideas.

If you would like to present an idea at the Holiday Gift Idea Exchange, you need to submit directions or recipes to the Milam County Extension Office by Nov. 21 at noon. Make sure your information gives clear directions (step-by-step) and patterns for the craft or complete recipes for the food that are ready to be copied. Our office will make copies of the information and prepare a handout that will be distributed during the program. There is a limit of two items per person.

The night of the Holiday Gift Idea Exchange, you need to bring a prepared item as a door prize and your materials to show your idea to the audience. Also, we need presenters to bring refreshments for the audience to enjoy at the end of the program. Finger food is the best (cookies, chips, dips, sandwiches, etc).

You would probably need to bring enough for about 12 to 20 people. 4-Hers presenting need to arrive by 6 p.m. to help set-up. You are also asked to help cleanup at the end. Contact the Milam County Extension Office if you have questions.
