‘Committed’ to Thanksgiving

You don’t get much more committed to the annual holiday than these guys, watched over by Mike Richardson at Richardson Farms, northwest of Rockdale on County Road 412. These are “broad-breasted whites,” prized at holiday feasts for their quantity of white meat. Richardson said about 800 turkeys were pre-sold for Thanksgiving, all but 100 of them the broad-breasted white variety. There’s still plenty of turkeys on hand at the 200-acre family operation. “Now it’s time for the Christmas rush,” Richardson said.
