Dates announced for Christmas parade, decorations contest

Milano ISD is closed for the remainder of the week for Thanksgiving holidays. Classes will resume at regular times on Monday, Nov. 28.

Dates and times have been announced for the annual Christmas parade and decorating contest, both sponsored by the City of Milano. The Christmas parade will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10.

Parade line up time is at 9:30 a.m. at the football field/ elementary school parking lot. Parade will begin at 10:30, circle through town around the Methodist Church and the First Baptist Church and end at the Milano Civic Center/Fire Station. Santa will be on the stage in the Civic Center to visit with children after the parade.

Christmas dinner, sponsored by the City of Milano, will be served immediately following the parade in the Civic Center at no charge. Plaques and cash prizes for first through third place winners in the parade will be announced at the civic center following the parade.

The city’s annual Christmas decorating contest will be Saturday, Dec. 17 with judging beginning at 7 p.m. Be sure to have your homes decorated and the Christmas lights on. Plaques and cash prizes will be awarded at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19 at the Milano Civic Center.

We extend our sympathy to the Freeman Crowe family. He passed away over the weekend. Services were to be held Wednesday at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
