PIE PERFECTION—Rockdale Intermediate School’s iTigers students provided 95 homemade pumpkin pies for the Community Outreach Thanksgiving Dinner held on Saturday at the New Salem Clubhouse. The service project was a weeklong endeavor for the 80 plus students participating in the school’s after school tutorial and enrichment program, campus program coordinator Susan Boyd said. Students got first-hand experience in making pie crusts from scratch and following recipe directions. Over 20 parent volunteers showed up to assist the students in making the pies. RIS teachers who tutor in the program were on hand to help also. The RIS cafeteria staff baked the pies for the group. Above, Alexandria Boussart, Luisa Garcia, Jonathan Marquez and Zeniah Mitchell roll out the crust. Left, parent Sky Conlan, Blake Trevino and Demontre Gates are about ready to slide crust into the pan.
