Funeral services for Clyde Robbins, 86, of Rockdale were held Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at Phillips & Luckey Chapel with Rev. Calvin Springer officiating. Burial was in IOOF Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mr. Robbins died Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.

He was born July 30, 1925, in the Hicks community of Lee County to Richard Lee and Maggie (Smith) Robbins.

Mr. Robbins was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He was a member of First Christian Church in Rockdale and was a self employed concrete contractor.

He married Ivy Doss on March 11, 1950, in St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale.

Mr. Robbins was preceded in death by his wife, Ivy, on Feb. 15, 2009; his parents; two brothers, Jim and Edwin Robbins; and an infant sister, Elsie Robbins.

Survivors are a brother, Dannie W. Robbins Sr. and wife Judy of Hutto, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and greatnephews.

Serving as pallbearers were Ricky Robins, Dannie Robbins, Jr., Bob Williams, Dan Wilson, Tom Valigura and Dickie Harrelson.

Honorary pallbearers were Richard Boyd, Aaron Gifford, Jimmy New, Billy Graham and Smokey Clark.

Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
