Rockdale PTO meeting set Dec. 6 at RJH

The monthly meeting of the Rockdale Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is set for Tuesday, Dec. 6.

Start time is 6 p.m. at the Rockdale Junior High.

GED classes in Rockdale on hold until Jan. 9

According to Shirley Jensen, GED coordinator, all GED classes have been cancelled for the month of December.

The last class to be held before Christmas holidays at Rockdale Junior High will be on Tuesday, Nov. 29. Classes will resume on Monday, Jan. 9.

Six area youth take part in scholarship program

SAN ANTONIO—Milam County had six young ladies participate in the Distinguished Youth of Texas Scholarship and Recognition Program held over the weekend at the Marriott Rivercenter Hotel on Nov. 25-27.

In the Little Miss division, Mary Brown and Abigail Olson of Milano, along with Calla Vinton and Natalia Smith of Gause participated. Vinton took first place with her scrapbook entry.

Kayla Pratt of Cameron participated in the Young Miss division, while Chyenne Lanfear competed in the Miss Teen competition.

Rockdale PTO Santa Shop coming to town

The Santa Shop will soon be coming to the Intermediate and Elementary Campus in December, Rockdale PTO spokesperson Melissa Reynosa announced.

“This is a way for our students to shop for their loved ones during the holidays. The shop will be set up at the Elementary for two days and the Intermediate for two days,” Reynosa said. “We will be needing as much help as possible from our parents. Please contact the PTO if you would love to volunteer. This is again a great fund-raiser and benefits all who have students at these campuses.”

2011-12 yearbooks on sale for spring delivery

RISD yearbooks will go on sale Monday, Nov. 28. The book will have a spring delivery date (on or before May 21), which makes it possible for students to have their friends and classmates sign their books before classes dismiss for summer.

With a spring delivery, the yearbook pages for prom, graduation, valedictorian /salutatorian, honor graduates, 8th grade promotion, and 8th grade dance will be printed as a supplement.

The supplement will have an adhesive strip that will easily insert into the back of the yearbook. These pages will have an early summer delivery date.

High school yearbook prices are $45 if purchased before Jan. 1 and $55 if purchased after Jan. 1.

Parents, it is not too late to get your senior brag ads.

Box tops for big bucks

Rockdale PTO is currently collect- ing “Box Tops for Education” at the elementary, intermediate and junior high campuses.

Milano Elementary’s PATCH Club is also collecting box tops.

Simply clip the box tops from participating products and send them to each campus. Each box top earns 10 cents and that money will stay at the campus the box tops are sent to.
