Hot start

The holiday season got off to a hot start in Rockdale Tuesday morning when an already mostly demolished house on Fourth Street, across from Sumuel Park, was reported on fire. Rockdale volunteer firefighters and police answered the call at 7:17 a.m. and found the structure in flames. Fire Chief Herbie Vaughan said the blaze “had obviously been set.” City of Rockdale crews responded to the scene to assist in clearing rubble. Only a small portion of the structure had been standing before the fire.
