CAMERON—Funeral services for Edwin Carlton Laywell, 83, of Cameron were held Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at Marek-Burns- Laywell Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Kleypas officiating. Burial followed in Walkers Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Laywell died Monday, Nov. 21, at his home.

He was born April 1, 1928, in Milam County to Henry and Bertha Estelle (Angell) Laywell.

Mr. Laywell was a graduate of Yoe High School.

He was a retired funeral director and owner/operator of Marek- Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.

Mr. Laywell was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cameron, a retired member of the Cameron Volunteer Fire Department, a founding member of the Cameron Lions Club and a member of San Andres Lodge AF&AM.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo, in 1985 and three brothers, Ralph, Raymond and Cecil.

Survivors include two sons, Brent Laywell of Spicewood, Blane Laywell of Cameron; two daughters, Della Laywell of Houston, Lynn Raesz of Dripping Springs; and a brother, Cliff Laywell of Bryan; also, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
