Parade, kids events part of celebration
It feels a lot more like Christmas after Rockdale threw itself a red-and-green yuletide party Friday and Saturday downtown.
Biggest draw was the night, lighted parade which blazed down US 79 Saturday.

Rockdale High School graduate Mic Trotty (Michael Trotty) has recently been awarded the position of the 2012 CW Austin

After embarking on a two game mini-losing streak with a pair of losses in their own tournament, the Rockdale Lady Tigers concluded back-to-back setbacks were plenty.
Recovering from a third quarter stumble, the Lady Tigers rallied to overcome Texas Christan Academy 54-46 Tuesday night at Tiger Gymnasium. Full Story
Lexington representing area as last playoff team
Knowing when to peak is one intangible that no coach can scribble on a chalkboard, but Jason Holcombe’s Lexington Eagles are in possession of momentum.
The Eagles are one step away from particptaing in their second straight Class 2A championship game.

Building permits only $10,700 for November
City building permits were down for the month at $10,700. That is compared to $33,500 in permits that were issued in October.
The November 2011 per- mits amount brings the total for the 2011 calendar year to $905,318.19.
October began a new fiscal year for the city, so the fiscal year total is now at $44,200. Full Story
Downtown Association elects officers, selects decor winners
The Rockdale Downtown Association elected new officers as well as announced winners of the downtown Christmas decoration contest at the group’s meeting on Monday night, according to president Chris Dyess.
Officers for the 2012-2013 term are: Chris Dyess, president; Elaine Gerren, vice president; Rita Juergens, treasurer; Toby Johnson, secretary. Full Story
Thorndale Chamber sets two ribbon cuttings for Saturday
Two exciting events are on tap for this weekend. First, the Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for Barron’s Hamburger Haven at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10. Make plans now to come out and help celebrate this new business in Thorndale. They serve hamburgers, drinks and other delicious short orders. Full Story
