Volunteers needed to help spread Roundup cheer around Rockdale

What’s on the calendar for this week? Well, the chamber is still taking donations for Christmas Round-up. Please bring your new toys to the chamber by Friday, Dec. 16 to help families in our community that are in need have a blessed Christmas this year.

Anyone who would like to help volunteer for Christmas Round-up is invited to help. From 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18 we will be sorting out all of the donations at the KC Hall. On Monday, Dec. 19 we will begin packing up the packages to be delivered to the recipients around 9 a.m. Then at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, we will begin delivering the donations.

Please plan on volunteering a little of your time at one or more of these times to help this most charitable organization.

NEW MED SPA—On Thursday, Dec. 15, Rockdale’s “Simply Beautiful Med Spa” will have its ribbon cutting and open house from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The open house will be a come and go event so please stop by and see what exciting new things this business is bringing to our community.

NEW YEAR’S EVE—Don’t forget about the annual New Year’s Eve Dance from 8 p.m.to 1 a.m. on Dec. 31. Texas Unlimited Band will be performing. This is always a fun event and I look forward to bringing in 2012 with all of you. Tickets can be purchased at the chamber or online at www.rockdalechamber.com.

WINE TASTING—This one is a few months away but please put it on your calendar. The Rotary will be hosting a Wine Tasting fundraiser from 7-9 p.m. March 24. More details to follow.

I leave you with this holiday thought:

“Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.”— Calvin Coolidge Deedra Jacob is the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce president. Email her at djacob@rockdalechamber.com or phone 446-2030.
