Rural fireworks okay during holiday season as commissioners pass on ‘fins, sticks’ ordinance
CAMERON—Recent rains impacted a couple of decisions, or non-decisions, Monday by Milam County commissioners.
Commissions did not re-impose a rural outdoor burning ban and also passed up a chance to vote in an ordinance banning finned/sticked fireworks during the Christmas New Year’s holiday season. Full Story
Still ‘deer season’ on roads
“Deer season” continued on Rockdale area roadways during the past week with five more vehicle-deer accidents reported to the Department of Public Safety.
There were four vehicle-deer accidents two weeks ago, a total of nine in the past 14 days. Full Story
Luminant outage over; big Unit 4 project on tap during 2012
A routine maintenance outage at Luminant’s Sandow Power Plant Unit, which brought up to 700 workers to the site over the past couple of months, ended Friday.
Luminant spokesperson Ashlie Barrie said the company does not announce outages, or other information on its projects in advance “due to the competitive market.” Full Story
Roundup, Brown Santa to deliver
Two programs of Christmas cheer for the needy will deliver during the next week.
Delivery date for Christmas Roundup is Tuesday (Dec. 20) but a big weekend of work, all by volunteers, comes first.

Planned postal cutbacks may result in better service at Rockdale level
The Waco postal processing facility which handles all of Rockdale’s mail is targeted to close next year but local postal customers will probably benefit from the move, according to Rockdale Postmaster Betty Malish. Full Story
