Thursday Reading Club meets at Bergeron home

Members of the Thursday Reading Club held their December meeting at the home of Dorothy Bergeron. The yearbook committee, composed of Mrs. Bergeron, Joan Ratliff and Corrine Parker, were hostesses for the Christmas event.

Fourteen members enjoyed refreshments and a Christmas program presented by Lois Lantz. Her program was titled “Thoughts of Peter Marshall,” an immigrant to the United States from Scotland. The Christmas story was one of peace, love and friendship.

Donna Mitchell, club president, led the business meeting. Members w ill begin the new year with a meeting on Jan. 12 at the home of Annette Stone. Barbara Thompson will present the program.–Geri Burnett, reporter

Thorndale Ag Boosters set annual stew meal

THORNDALE–Thorndale Ag Boosters w ill hold their 3rd annual stew luncheon f undraiser on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, according to Lori Fisher, spokesperson.

Serving will begin at 10:30 a. m. at Fireman’s Hall. Stew will be $5 per pint, dine-in or drive-through to-go line.

There w ill also be a silent auction and dessert will be available for donations.

Sunshine quilters to hold yule meeting Thursday

Sunshine n’ Shadows Quilt Guild will hold its Christmas meeting at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15 at Meadowbrook Baptist Church fellowship hall. Visitors are welcome. For more information call Eddie Davidson, 446- 6316.

Grief support meetings held twice monthly

CAMERON—Standards Hospice is holding Grief Support Group meetings at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays. Next meeting will be Dec. 22. “The meetings will continue into 2012,” according to Greg Nichols, chaplain. Meeting location is 115 N. Central in Cameron.


Relay-benefit dance slated New Year’s Eve

CAMERON—The “Peace Hope Love” Relay for Life team invites the public to a New Year’s Eve dance Dec. 31 at Simon George Hall in Cameron. Proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society as part of Relay for Life.

The dance will be from 8 p.m. until midnight. Tickets are $10 pre-sale and $15 at the door for everyone age 10 and up. Simon George Hall is located at 416 South Karnes Avenue in Cameron.
