Barfield

Graveside services for J.C. “Jake’ Barfield, 77, were held Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at Chriesman Cemetery in Chriesman with Pastor Burt Graham officiating.

Mr. Barfield died Wednesday, December 14, in Rockdale.

He was born Nov. 17, 1934, in New Boston to Hiram Andrew and Ora Odessa (Adams) Barfield.

Mr. Barfield was a graduate of New Boston High School.

He had worked as a bag changer in the environmental department at Alcoa’s Rockdale Operations.

Mr. Barfield was a member of First Baptist Church in Milano, the Alcoa 25-Year Club and Alcoa Retirees Club.

He enjoyed his cattle, gardening, fishing and hunting and at one time would break horses.

He married Margaret Ryan on May 15, 1952, in Caldwell.

Mr. Barfield was preceded in death by his son, Wesley Drew Barfield, on Feb. 21, 2005; two sisters, Willie Dell Curtis and Mary Helen Patton; and a brother, William James Barfield. His wife, Margaret Barfield, also died on Dec. 14, 2011.

Survivors are two daughters, Bridget Barfield of Missoula, Montana, Katrina Morris and husband Benny of Austin; three grandchildren, Brooke Graham of Fort Worth, Brandy Leslie and husband Brodie of Round Rock, Randy Jacob Barfield of Milano; two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Jaycee Gayle Leslie; a brother, Robert W. Barfield of Leary; two sisters, Mona Frances Deutch of Longview, Patsy Barfield of Hooks; and a special friend, Chance Pack of Milano.
